Mike has a background as a sportsman and is also a fitness and Spinning instructor. He has a great knowledge of the body and how to get the most efficient use out of it in sports and in rehab. He has great compassion as a teacher, and knows how to challenge, respect and enlighten whoever he is teaching.
From a fanatical sporting family, Mike played county schools’ rugby union, cricket and hockey for Somerset. Whilst at university he played international rugby league for Scotland Students and represented London Skolars in the National Conference League. A disc injury took Mike away from rugby and into marathon running, cycling, triathlon, fitness and sports coaching and Spinning instructing, as well as Pilates.
Mike trained as a comprehensive (mat and equipment) Pilates teacher through BASI (Body Arts and Science International) in 2015. He has been part of the BASI UK Faculty team since 2020, training students to become teachers.
He has undertaken advanced certification BASI courses in Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies and Pilates for Pregnancy and Beyond and has completed BASI workshops in Pilates for Ageing, Pilates for Hypermobility and Pilates for Scoliosis.
